# Streaks
Streaks are a simple game mechanic, designed mainly for sports businesses. Members see their personal visit streak in the app: how many weeks in a row they've come in. It's a great way to encourage them to come back every week.
**How a streak works**
- A member needs to check in or visit at least once a week to keep their streak going.
- If the member skips a week, the streak starts again.
- Streaks aren't linked to points or rewards. They're purely there for motivation: members come back because they don't want to lose their streak, and it costs you nothing.
**Where do members see their streak?**
- In the header of the home screen.
- In their profile.
That way members always have their progress in view, and visiting becomes a habit.
**Activating streaks**
Go to App settings \> Streaks. Until streaks are switched on, you'll see the message "No streaks yet". Click **Activate** to open the settings.
**Setting up the design**
On the left you set how the streak looks; on the right you'll see a live preview of the home screen and profile screen.
- **Day icon:** the icon that appears in the calendar on a day the member visited. Choose one of the standard icons (for example a heart, a lightning bolt or a sports icon) or upload your own icon as an SVG. Then set the background colour and icon colour, for example in your own brand colour.
- **Week icon:** the icon that appears at the end of a week if the member visited that week. Again, you choose the background colour and icon colour.
- **Badge:** the streak badge in the top left of the app, showing the number of weeks in a row. Choose between **Default** and **Minimal**. With Minimal, you also set the badge's background colour.
You can enter colours as a hex code (for example #54ca7e) or pick them with the colour picker.
On the profile screen, the member sees a monthly calendar with their **Current streak** and **Longest streak**.
**Saving**
Click **Save**. You'll see the message "Streaks activated": from now on, your members will see their weekly visit streak on their home screen and in their profile in the app.
Want to switch streaks off again later? Once activated, a **Deactivate** button appears at the bottom. You can also change the icons and colours at any time and save again.
