# Manual campaigns
**Campaigns** is where you reach out to your customers with targeted messages and offers. It has three sections: Manual campaigns (one-off campaigns), Offers (the deals you attach to a campaign) and Automations (campaigns that run automatically).
A manual campaign is a one-off message you send to a segment by push notification and/or email, whenever you choose. For example:
- promoting last-minute availability or a quiet time;
- inviting customers to your loyalty programme;
- winning back customers who haven't been in for a while;
- announcing news, an event or an offer.
If you don't have any campaigns yet, you'll see the **Create campaign** button.
Once you've created campaigns, you'll see them in an overview. Use the **All**, **Sent** and **Draft** tabs to filter by sent campaigns and drafts. You can also search and filter by location. For each campaign you'll see the segment (Audience), status, date, channels, number of recipients and average open rate.
**Creating a campaign**
Click **Create campaign**. While you build it, the **Overview** on the right always shows your campaign's goal, segment, incentive, channels and a preview of your message.
1. **Campaign details:** give your campaign a name and, optionally, a description.
2. **Goal:** choose what you want to achieve. The goal also decides what gets measured:
- **Drive bookings:** more bookings (measured in bookings).
- **Win back:** bring customers back (measured in returning customers).
- **Announce an update:** share news or an update (measured in opens and clicks).
- **Invite to loyalty:** invite customers to your loyalty programme (measured in sign-ups).
- **Promote a reward:** put a reward in the spotlight (measured in redemptions). Depending on the goal, you'll then fill in a few more settings. For Win back, for example, you choose which bookings count (bookings within a number of days of receiving the campaign, or bookings in a specific period), how many days that is and for which locations.
1. **Target:** choose the segment that receives the campaign. You'll immediately see how many contacts it contains.
2. **Incentive:** choose whether to offer something extra:
- **No incentive:** just a message.
- **Offer:** choose an existing offer or create one on the spot with **Create new offer**. Set how long the offer is valid: a number of days after receipt or until a fixed date.
- **Bonus points:** give recipients extra points.
1. **Channel:** choose which channels to send the campaign through: push notification, email or both. If you choose more than one, you also decide how the campaign is delivered:
- **Send once using channel priority:** each contact receives the campaign through the first channel they can be reached on. If that doesn't work, the next channel is tried. Under **Channel priority**, drag the channels into the order you want.
- **Send on all selected channels:** each contact receives the campaign on every selected channel they can be reached on.
1. **Push notification:** enter the title and message. Use the tags **kb-article-module-5**, and to personalise your message; they're automatically replaced with the contact's details.
2. **Email:** click **Preview email** to view and edit the email (see below).
3. Click **Send campaign** to send it right away, or **Save as draft** to save it as a draft.
**Editing the email**
**Preview email** opens the email editor. There's already an email ready that matches your campaign, including your offer. Fields like **First name** and **Business name** are filled in automatically with the contact's name and your business name.
- On the left, under **Blocks**, drag elements into your email, like a heading, text, image, button, offer, divider, spacer, logo or footer. Under **Layout** and **Design**, adjust the structure, colours and fonts.
- Click any element in the email to edit it.
- On the right, under **Email settings**, enter the subject line and preview text (the text most inboxes show next to the subject line). Use **Tag** to add personalised fields, like the first name.
- Use **Preview** at the top to see how the email looks. Use **Send test** to send yourself a test email first.
- Click **Done** when you're finished.
