# Leaderboards
A leaderboard adds a bit of friendly competition to your programme. Members can see in the app how they rank against other members, and the top 3 automatically get extra points at the end of the month. You'll find leaderboards under **Program \> Leaderboards**.
## How a leaderboard works
- **Three types of leaderboard:** you choose what members are ranked on:
1. **Minutes played**: who has played the most (padel and sports). Most padel clubs go for this one.
2. **Points earned**: who has earned the most points that month.
3. **Referrals**: who has referred the most friends.
- **Monthly:** a leaderboard always runs until the end of the month. A new one then starts automatically.
- **Prizes for the top 3:** you decide how many points numbers 1, 2 and 3 get. The points are added automatically at the end of the month.
- **Visible in the app:** members can see their position on the leaderboard in the app.
- **Anonymous or with a name:** members appear as Anonymous by default. They can choose their own username and avatar; only that name is then shown.
- **Starts on the 1st of the month:** a new leaderboard goes live on the first day of the month. At the end of the month the final standings are locked in and the winners get their points, before the next leaderboard begins.
- **Ties:** if two members have the same score, whoever reached it first ranks higher.
- **Excluding members:** you can exclude members from the leaderboard, for example staff or test accounts.
## Creating a leaderboard
1. Go to **Program \> Leaderboards** and click **Create leaderboard**.
2. Choose the type of competition: minutes played, points earned or referrals.
3. Customise the look: choose the colour members see themselves highlighted in, and the colour of the prize banner.
4. Enter the prizes: how many points numbers 1, 2 and 3 get.
5. Choose the status: **Active** (the leaderboard starts as soon as possible, on the 1st of the month) or **Draft** (save it and switch it on later).
6. Click **Save**.
Each leaderboard gets its own page in the app. There, members can see their position, compare themselves with other participants and see what prizes are up for grabs.
## Showing the leaderboard on a screen at your location
You can also show the leaderboard on a screen at your location, for example in rotation with other content.
1. Create the leaderboard and switch it on.
2. Click the clock icon next to the leaderboard and choose **Open display view**.
3. A new page opens showing the leaderboard. Copy that page's URL and put it on your screen, or add it to your rotation.
