# Automated notifications
Automated notifications go out automatically when something happens, for example when a member has enough points for a reward or moves up a tier. That keeps members engaged without you having to lift a finger each time. You'll find them under **Program \> Automated notifications**.
How it works
For each type of notification, use the toggles to choose whether it's sent as a push notification (**Push**) and/or as an email (**Email**). The overview also shows:
- **Activated on**: when the notification was switched on.
- **Last sent**: when the notification was last sent.
- **Open rate**: the percentage of members who opened the notification.
- **History**: a list of previously sent notifications.
Push notifications only reach members who have them switched on for the app. Emails only reach members who have opted in to email.
**Please note:** these are standard messages. You can't edit the text or preview it in advance. You only decide whether a notification is on, and through which channel.
Types of automated notifications
| Notification | When is it sent? |
| --- | --- |
| **Reward created** | When you add a new reward |
| **Reward available** | When a member has enough points to claim a reward |
| **New challenge** | When you add a new challenge |
| **Tier upgrade** | When a member moves up to a higher tier |
| **Losing tier** | One week before a member loses their tier |
| **Referral success** | When a member's referral is successful |
| **Inactivity** | When a member hasn't been active in the app for 90 days |
| **Reward unredeemed** | When a member has claimed a reward in the app but hasn't redeemed it on site after 7 days |
| **Birthday** | When a member's birthday reward becomes available |
| **Reward points expiring** | When a member's points are due to expire in 30 days |
| **Booking points earned** | In the morning, with the points a member earned from a booking the day before |
